My Mother.

My mom is someone who is, from what I’ve seen, liked by everyone.  She is the nicest person I think I have ever encountered and she always welcomes my friends over at any time.  She is also a sister to three women and she seems to always be the mediator when something bad happens within the family.  And she is also a loving wife and mother obviously.  You can tell by her daily actions that she cares very much for everyone in our family.  My mother teaches nursing at Virginia Highlands Community College.  Every student I have encountered says she is one of the best professors they have had in their college careers.  I am very proud to say that she is my Mom because of all of her accomplishments.  When I was born in Grundy, Va, my parents were both working at the local hospital, Buchannan General Hospital.  My mom was over 90 nurses in the hospital and had her own secratery, Pam. Just by walking down the hall with her, you could tell that she knew nearly everyone in the hospital.   I think this shows her good hospitallity and that she cared for others.  You could tell she loved her job because she loved to help people in need.  After working at the hospital, my parents decided it was for our best intrest to move to Abingdon, where my mom worked for Hospice and Palliative Care.  This organization helps people with terminal illnesses or people who are dying to be comforted in their time of need.  After working there for a few years she then started teaching at VHCC and this is where she is currently employed.  I am very proud of my mother and all she has done for other people.

My favorite place in the world is in a secret cove out at the South Holston Lake.  It includes all of my favorite smells, sites and feelings.  My favorite color is sky blue, the reason is in the name, because it’s the color of the sky.  This color has the power to brighten anyones day with it’s soft, light blue shade.  This place also includes my favorite smells, these include: freshly cut grass as well as the smell of pine trees.  On a bad day I guess my cove could include my least favorite smell as well.  This is the smell of skunk.  I would describe the smell of a skunk as a deathly, unrelenting scent that no one should have to experience under any circumstance.  My favorite tastes include the taste of pizza and the taste of a nice bottle of water when your throat is dry.  I would describe the taste of water as a fresh taste of something that you’re longing for.  My cove also includes my favorite sounds which are the sound of water running up on the shore and also the sound of thunderstorms.  I love the sound of thunderstorms because it has a certain truth about it that, even though it could be harmful it leaves a beautiful sound.  My favorite textures include: the feeling of sand and also the feeling of silk.  I would describe the feeling of sand as a rough feeling but one that feels fantastic against your skin.

Everyone needs to vote.

I believe it is absolutely imparative that people vote for the next President of the United States.  It is our responsibillity as American citizens to voice your opinion.  I feel that young people especially should vote because the older generations think of us as passive and not really caring who gets elected president.  Many people have given there life for us to have the right to vote, and that alone is a reason to vote.  If all the wars we were in went the other way, we wouldn’t have the right now express our opinion and America wouldn’t be the greatest country in the World.  It is not only our right to vote, it is our absolute responsibility as American citizens to vote.  One thing that really grinds my gears is when people complain about how badly the President is doing, when they didn’t even vote.  If you don’t vote I think you should just keep your mouth shut because you don’t have an opinion that counts in the election.

Negative Campaign?

What’s with all the negative campaigning that has been going on in this Presidential election?  I am not a big fan of this at all.  If you want to say something mean about the opposing candidate, do it in private.  Where as both candidates have used this method, McCain has used it much more.  Could this be a reason he is slightly behind in the National Polls?  I think a lot of people share this view that it is not the way to go.  Instead of saying something bad about the other candidate, they should say good things about themselves and what they’ll do to better the country.
